On my recent trip to New York City, I made a trip out to Central Park. I spent pretty much an entire day wondering around the park checking out all that their is to see. Unfortunately on my first trip I missed out on seeing the zoo. I really didn’t want to miss it so I made a return trip the next day.
The Central Park Zoo
Central Park is pretty big, so you definitely need a map when going there. The Zoo is located near the south east corner of the park. If you are walking, I suggest you enter the park at the entrance on E64th and 5th street as it is the closest to the zoo.
When you enter the zoo, you need to head over to the tropic zone. Be warned that it is humid and misty in there so say good bye to your hair. Frizz central. Oh, but once you get over the humidity in there you notice all of the birds!!
The tropic zone is an enclosed space with tons of trees all over the place and there are birds everywhere!! Just walking around and hanging out. It’s a pretty amazing sight to see. There are so many different types of birds here some that I had never seen before.
As you continue to walk through the tropic zone you will come across more than just birds. There were monkeys and lemurs as well.
These two…
…typical sibling behaviour!!
When you head out of the tropic zone, there are still so many animals to see.
I seriously could have spent all day wandering around the zoo! However, I had a bus to catch and had to run. The zoo isn’t that big but there is still so much to see and do there. In addition to wandering around looking at the animals there is a 4D interactive experience that you can also check out. There is also a children zoo here if you are travelling with kids.
A little tip if you are heading to the zoo, you can purchase your tickets in advance from their website and save 10%!! Also, if you didn’t purchase in advance, you can use a machine in front of the ticket desk where you scan a code on your mobile phone which also gives you the discounted price – not too shabby!!
I definitely recommend checking out the Central Park Zoo the next time that you are in NYC. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours and it’s not too expensive. Definitely a plus in my book!! Plus, you can see the red pandas!! 😉

Central Park Zoo is something I never did when I lived in NYC and I totally regret it. Always seemed like such a gorgeous and fun place to visit…escape the city life for a little and just see the animals!
Sometimes it can be so nice to get out of the city and to spend some time with the animals at the zoo. I’m so glad that I was able to go see them in NYC!
So many cute fur babies! And the perfect way to spend a gorgeous Summer afternoon! XO

The zoo is probably not the first place that most people think to go to in NYC but when I was heading to Central Park it was a definite must see for me!
I’ve never been to NY, so definitely never been to the zoo but I’ll add that to my itinerary when I decide to finally make my way out there! xx adaatude.com

Going to the zoo is one of my favorite activities. I just love animals. I recently went to the Baltimore Aquarium and had the best time. This is a top summer activity.
