Stuck in a fashion rut outfit post

Happy hump day!!

I have mentioned before that I can get into a rut. Over the years you figure out what works for you and makes you comfortable and then you stick with it. Which is great! I’m all about knowing what works for YOU. However, experimenting and trying new things can be so much fun!!

I have made a conscious effort over the last year to try and get out of my fashion ruts. Take today’s outfit for example, it’s nothing earth-shattering but these two pieces are an example of the fashion rut that I have been in. When I picked up this skirt a few years ago, I also picked up this tank that matches the pink in the skirt.

It matched up perfectly, so I would wear them together – always. I might add a cardigan or jacket on top if it is cold outside but that was it.  Or this top, since the floral design goes all the way down to the bottom, I would always wear it untucked over skinnies.

I have a few other outfits like this, where I always pair the same pieces together. It became a habit, which is great in the mornings when you are rushing to work. You know that these pieces look good together so you grab them and go. But where is the fun in that?!

So, today, I decided to mix things up a little and pair this floral tank with my ink blot skirt instead of doing the same old style that I usually do. I think that it created an interesting new look. It’s a simple little switch that can really make a difference in your wardrobe. By mixing things up a little, you can also expand your outfit selection and breathe new life into your clothes.
