I was scrolling through my FaceBook feed the other day when something in one of my blogging groups caught my eye. Suki was looking to start a blog hop and was asking people if they wanted to join in. What’s a blog hop you ask?
A blog hop is where one person, in this case Suki, hosts a themed topic and anyone can participate by writing on that topic and linking to each other. It creates kind of a blog tour where you can visit everyone’s blogs. I thought this sound fun and interesting so I immediately signed up!!
Blog Hop: 5 Things I Learned About Myself From Blogging
- Surprisingly, how embarrassed I get when I am outside taking photos!! I take all of my pictures myself, so standing outside with a tripod, when people walk by I always start to blush! I guess I feel like I am being vain or something? I’m slowly starting to develop more of a “so what” attitude towards it but it would be a lot easier if I had someone else behind the lens. However…
- I really enjoy taking pictures. Since getting my DSLR and taking a few photography classes, I’ve discovered how much I enjoy photography! It’s a lot of fun and I am slowly becoming that person who never leaves home without their camera!!
- I LOVE to write!! Who knew??? While I have always been that nerd who enjoys writing academic papers (I know! I’m a weirdo!!) I never really knew how much I loved to write before starting this blog. I’ve also become a lot more comfortable at sharing more information about myself and what I have been through on the blog. For someone who was always really shy this is huge!!
- I really, really, really enjoy blogging even though it is a LOT of work!! I started this blog as something fun to do to keep myself busy during my accident recovery. I had no idea how much it would consume my life – in a good way!! I feel like I eat, breathe and sleep the blog. I am constantly thinking “this would be good for the blog” whenever I hear about any events that are happening. I almost planned a trip to Charleston for a 1 day book signing event by one of my favourite authors mostly because I could visualize how the shoot would go in my head. I’ve also noticed a new found confidence with the outfits I put together and I’ve even started identifying myself as a fashion blogger when I meet people!!
- How much time I waste doing things that are unimportant. I’ve recently discovered just how much I procrastinate and it’s a lot!! With my brain injury it also takes me a lot longer to accomplish tasks so I really can’t be wasting time playing a game or surfing the web. Unless it has relevance to my blog or to something else that I am doing in my life it has to go.
There you have the 5 things I’ve learned about myself since starting this blog just over a year ago. I can’t wait to discover what I learn 5 years from now!
Check out what my fellow bloggers have learned as you click your way through the blog hop!!
Thanks for reading!!

that sounds so fun!! I need to get a tripod and start doing my own photos- I could see how it could look a little silly though!! 🙂
I used to do a lot of my own photos with a tripod (I don’t use it as much anymore), and felt awkward at first. It definitely gets easier over time!

It’s amazing how much you learn when you’re sharing your thoughts & life with strangers. Those strangers become friends and suddenly you have a network. So cool! xx adaatude.com
I love your title 😉 blog hops are great!

Wow! I’ve learned so much about you here. I had no idea that you use a tripod to take photos. Great job. I also didn’t know about your recovery from an accident. I’m so sorry you had to go through that but also a little glad that it brought you deeper into the blogging community.
I have never heard of a blog hop before. I love being able to learn new things about bloggers.

Blog hopping sounds like fun, I think I’ll host one myself! Writing can be a lot of work but it’s also therapeutic and is great for looking back on during tough times.
