First, off, sorry for being MIA recently! I cannot believe that I haven’t blogged in weeks – I really don’t know where the time has gone! I’m trying to get myself better organized so that I can make sure that I am posting regularly. Now on to today’s post…
This week the movie Clueless celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. I cannot believe that this movie is 20 years old!! I love Clueless! This movie came out when I was in grade 8 and for me, it was one of those movies that just sticks with you. To be honest, it was years before I fully understand some of the jokes or the one-liners, what can I say? I was a pretty naive child and a lot of this movie went right over my head.
I will admit that I was completely inspired by the fashion in this movie and for months afterwards I only wore skirts and dresses with knee-highs and thigh-highs. This was when my love of plaid skirts started, which was fortunate as I was starting at a Catholic high school in September.
Over the years I have watched it so many times that I can recite it by heart. Whenever I am feeling down and want to watch a movie to cheer me up I always pick Clueless. There is just something about it. It is basically about a popular rich girl who really has the biggest heart who only wants the best for the people she cares about.
It is fascinating to me to think that this movie was a modern re-telling of Jane Austen’s Emma (another book/movie that I adore).
In honour of the 20th anniversary, several websites have been posting articles and quizzes about the movie. I have linked to a few below:
Buzzfeed has pictures from the premiere (they are a sight to be seen!!)
You can take the quiz to see which Clueless character you are [I got Cher, naturally ;)]
and here is a totally hard, like totally important quiz 🙂
Finally, Vanity Fair has a really interesting article about the history of Clueless and how it was made.
Thanks for reading!!
