Cruising Along in Neutral

You can usually find me in bright colours these days but I wanted to switch things up a little by creating an outfit all in neutral tones.

Neutral Tones

An all neutral outfit can be a nice change of pace. A look like this is so easy to put together because when you are dealing with neutrals you know that everything will match. It’s the perfect look to put together when you are rushing out the door. There is nothing better than simplifying your morning routine, and a quick and easy look is the way to do it.

When I saw this dress at Winners I was a little hesitant. Since I am so pale, I don’t wear a lot of beige colours so the medium golden brown of the cardigan works to brighten up my skin against the beige of the dress. The print of the dress really caught my eye and it kept drawing me back to it. The print reminds me of the 70s (though I wasn’t around then) and it’s very similar to some of the prints I have seen lately at Zara. I’ve actually picked up a few pieces from there towards the end of 2015 that are a similar print style to this dress.

I must have passed the rack a few times before I picked up the dress to try on. Once I tired on the dress I could immediately see its potential and I started thinking of other items I already had in my closet that would go perfectly with it. In order to make an informed decision about a new piece of clothing, I really believe that you need to try it on to see how it looks on your body and against your skin tone. Sometimes, you might be surprised.
