A must see stop on our recent trip to Ireland was to visit Epic Ireland. An acquaintance of my dad had heard about it and recommended it. It sounded like a great place to visit so the three of us made sure to seek it out on our trip.
Epic Ireland is a tourist/heritage museum located in the Custom House Quay (CHQ) building opposite the River Liffey. Epic Ireland is an emigration museum which explores the story of Irish history and culture. It’s an interactive visitor experience which really helps you to learn more about the experience of the Irish people.
To Do: Visit Epic Ireland Museum
When you enter the museum you are given a passport. At each of the 20 stops along the way you can get a stamp to make your travels. You will learn about their contributions to different areas such as music, dance, sports, and migration.
Located in the basement of the CHQ you will be amazed at the technology on display here!!
If you visit Epic Ireland you will not be disappointed! There are so many exhibits and it’s fascinating to learn more about the culture of the place that you have travelled to.
My favourite part of the museum was of course the section on Irish dancing ๐
There are so many really interesting things on display here. They really spent a lot of time and effort on this museum!! The lights, the interactive puzzles and games, this place is awesome!!
My mom is from Ireland, and my dad has some long ago Irish roots, and one of the pretty cool features here is the genealogy department that is connected to the museum.
Discover your Irish Roots
The Irish Family History Centreย gives you the chance to research your Irish heritage. You can get a combination ticket that allows you to enter the museum and to visit the history centre. It’s actually a pretty good deal because with your ticket to the history centre you get 15 minutes with a genealogist plus 1 month free access to there site so that you can continue researching on your own!
Visiting the Epic Ireland museum and the Irish Family History Centre was a great way to check out our Irish roots!! If you are in Dublin, you should find this gem of a museum to learn more about the Irish culture. Plus, you might be able to discover your own Irish roots ๐
I would love to visit Ireland some day! My husband would enjoy visiting this museum.
