In my guide for how to pack for a two week trip, I documented all of the clothes that I was going to be bringing with me to Fort Lauderdale. Now that I am back, I decided to do an outfit review to show you exactly how I mixed and matched the different pieces.
I’ll apologize now for the photos since I had to take all of them in the different hotel rooms. #mirrorselfie Not the greatest option but the best that I could do. The lighting also wasn’t the greatest. I would have asked my mom to take my pics since she came with me but she has a long history of taking crappy photos.
Outfit Recap
This is the outfit I wore on the plane flying over. It was freezing in Toronto so I am wearing lots of layers!!
For our first day sightseeing I wore the pink tank tucked into the lilac skirt.
Beach bound!! Floral shorts and a Kimono – the perfect pieces for the beach
The blazer came out again for the orientation session. I wore it over the floral dress with tights and my lace up flats. The A/C in the hotel was brutal! So cold!!
Printed joggers for a day of mindfulness. This time I wore them with the teal blouse layered over a black lace tank but the joggers were definitely on repeat this trip!
Culottes with a tank. I threw on my cardigan to stay warm.
I wore the culottes again another day with the tank from the first day at the beach.
Joggers again, this time with a cream coloured cowl neck sweater.
Black joggers this time worn with a black turtleneck and pink blouse. You would not know it was warm outside based on these photos!
Culottes again, this time with a crew neck sweater
Headed back to the beach today so the shorts made another appearance!! This time with a polka dot tank #mixedprints
The last time these joggers were worn. I wore them with the lace tank from earlier and the green blazer came out again.
The black joggers again but this time with the pink from the first day of sightseeing.
The lilac skirt came out again this time with the cowl neck sweater.
For the last day of the training the floral dress came out. I wore it with the black cardigan and my sneakers for a little #printmixing
On our last night in Florida, mom and I went on a dinner cruise (post to come soon) so I wore a printed romper with my kimono.
Time to head home š The cowl neck sweater and jeans were perfect for the airplane home.
As you can see, several pieces were worn more than once. I was definitely glad that I had brought some sweaters with me!! It was a lot colder inside the hotel where the retreat was than I had anticipated.
When packing for a long trip, it is important that you bring pieces that can mix well together. I like bright colours and prints so I made sure to bring a few but I wanted to be sure that they would also work with the other pieces. That’s why I brought some pieces in solid colours like the teal blouse and the black joggers. Neutral pieces like the black cardigan and cream sweaters were the right touch to throw on top of my outfit when I got cold.
Knowing where you are headed and what you will need helps. I was going to be doing a lot of meditating so I needed comfy clothes. I’m also a contingency packer so I never leave home without some sweaters in case it’s cold, or some shorts/skirts in case it is warm. When you pack this way you are always prepared which means that you can just sit back and enjoy your trip!
