Happy Friday!! I hope that your first week back after the holidays was short and fast!
I had been looking for a new winter parka to replace the one that I had been using. My old parka was one of the TNA parkas from Aritzia which if you live in Toronto you are very familiar with. Typically women in Toronto either have a TNA parka or a Canada Goose parka – they are everywhere. With good reason – they are so warm!! You can’t keep it on inside a mall or you will have sweat dripping down your arms #truth.
For this parka I wanted something in a bright colour either blue or purple. My last one was a chocolate brown colour and I wanted something that would be very different. I had been looking for about a year but hadn’t found anything that I really liked. Either the colour, the fit, or the price was wrong.
The Heart Wants What it Wants
I was out with my mom before Christmas doing some holiday shopping when I came across this coat from Winners. It had nothing that I was after – except the price – but as soon as I saw it I knew that this was the coat. The coat is Laundry by Shelli Segal (on sale now at Macys!) and I ended up finding it at Winners for less than $150 CAD which was right in my price range. The first one I found was to big and I couldn’t see any other size on the same rack. Eek!!
My mom and I each started searching through all the different racks to see if maybe someone had moved it. Winners has racks upon racks of items all organized by type so all the outerwear is in one section. Finally after checking several racks I hit gold – a size small!!
It fit perfectly with a little bit of space in case you wanted to wear a bulkier sweater underneath. The coat is a charcoal grey colour with black fur around the trim. Its a dressier style and a darker colour than I had originally intended but I love it.
I wore it the other day and it is super warm! The coat is down-filled but it’s also light-weight and it doesn’t add bulk. Its the same brand as the shorter down-filled coat I talked about here. No wonder I liked it so much! P.S. how often does the coat still look cute with the hood up?

Always important to look stylish while staying warm! And yes, it looks really cute and cozy even with the hood up!
