You’re out at the mall, and you see the cutest pair of shoes and they are calling your name!! You try them on in the store and everything is good. They are just what you have been looking for and as you prance around in the store in them you think “These beauties must be mine!” You take them home and are so excited to wear them the first time – new shoes, there is no better thrill! But suddenly, as you are walking around in them out on the town, you notice something. Your brand new shoes are a little tight. At first you think “no big deal, they will stretch. It’s only because they are new. Once they are broken in, this will no longer be a problem”. You are optimistic, you had a problem and thought of a solution – everything will be great! Until you are hobbling home at the end of the night and your feet are killing you and you think “I can never wear these again!!” There is nothing worse than a new pair of shoes that pinch your feet! It doesn’t matter how cute they are, if they are too tight you will never wear them.
Luckily, I have the solution for you! I came across this simple and easy way to quickly stretch out your shoes that are too tight without having to continue wearing them until they have broken in. All you need is your shoes, a pair of socks and a hair dryer.
Five Simple Steps to Break in Shoes:
- Put on socks
- Put on shoes
- Turn on hair dryer
- Aim the hair dryer at the parts of the shoes that are too tight
- Marvel at how comfortable your shoes now feel!
During the Black Friday sales, I came across these booties (seen several times before and most recently here) at Nine West and they were exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately they didn’t have my size in black but they did have a 1/2 size smaller. I tried them on in the store and they felt fine. I tried a 1/2 size up in a different colour and they felt a little too loose so I figured the smaller size would be okay. They only problem was that they were a little snug across the toes where the shoe typically bends as you walk. Since the booties were leather, I knew that with time they would soften up, but I wanted to wear them to a wedding that was coming up and I knew that I needed them to soften up quick!! I tried this method out and I am telling you, the leather softened up fast!! I wore them to the wedding and I was walking around and dancing all night long!! (or until I got too tired and had to go home – but my feet didn’t hurt!! 🙂 )
The next time your shoes are too tight, try out this simple Frugal Fashion Hack and your feet will be thanking you!!

Thanks Mary! I’m glad I could help
As crazy as it sounds, I don’t have this problem. My feet are small enough so I have the opposite problem, they’re not tight enough!
Sorry Courtney, I don’t have a tip for shoes that are too big! I wish I did I have a couple of pairs that I can’t wear for that reason
