As I reflected back over the past year, I was able to make a list of some of the highlights of 2016. This was a pretty big year for me. I made some serious progress on a lot of my goals. Some I have been working on for awhile. Some were new and unexpected.
2016 highlights
Completing my training to be a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher
In February of 2016, I began the process of training to become an MBSR teacher. Learning Mindfulness has been SO helpful for me after my accident. It’s taught me how to be more present, less shy, and has been so helpful with my anxiety. I knew from the moment I started my own 8week MBSR course that I would one day learn how to teach it to others. 2016 was that year.
The training was done over the course of 9 months and several trips. It was so worth it though!! Immersing myself in the training really helped to deepen my own practice. I have seen so much personal growth with some pretty cool results!
Traveling to Ireland
This trip is something I have talked about for a few years. It took awhile but I finally went. It was great! I visited places I have never been before. Plus I had the chance to visit with some family members that I had not seen in years. I’ve shared some of my trip on here already but there is more to come!
Moving out on my Own
I have never lived on my own before, crazy right? I went from living with my parents to living with a roommate. Now though, I have my condo all to myself. And I LOVE it!! My roomie moved out in September and since then the place has been renovated and redecorated. The finishing touches are happening now and then there will be a big reveal here on the blog!
Attending 2 blog conferences
One of my goals this year was to connect with other bloggers IRL. I started looking into attending a blogger conference and I ended up finding two that I was interested. The first one was in Chicago, the Simply Stylist conference back in the summer. It was such a great opportunity to connect with bloggers and to learn from people in the industry. The second was this fall in Toronto. Not only did I get to spend time with bloggers from my own city but I also had the opportunity to network with some brands. It was such a great learning opportunity.
Another milestone that happened in 2016? My new nephew Declan who was born on December 21!! Isn’t he cute!! 🙂
Moving into 2017
I definitely have some big plans for this year:
- Working on my fitness goals.
- Making meditating a daily practice.
- Growing and expanding my blog.
- Starting my Mindfulness business.
I know that these goals will take a lot of work but I am looking forward to seeing what 2017 has to offer. What are your plans for 2017? Let me know in the comments below.
