On my trip to Ireland, my parents and I traveled to Galway with my Aunt Breege and Uncle Domo. Galway is one of my favourite places to visit (after Dublin of course ;). That last time that I was there I picked up some pretty awesome clothes so needless to say I was happy to go back. š
Visiting Galway
There is a lot to see and do in Galway. We only went for the night so our time was pretty limited. When you are on a short time frame it’s important to make the most of your time. We knew that there were a few musts for us on this trip. When you are travelling with other people it’s important that everyone gets to see/do at least one thing that they want. So we made a mental list and headed out.
A visit to Moran’s restaurant
Heading out to Moran’s was a must for my dad. He had been talking about coming back here since before we booked the trip!! It’s actually a little funny that he remembered this place. This trip was important to him as well and there were really only two things he wanted to do. Though travelling all the way to Ireland to get some fish and chips might seem a little silly, it made him happy.
Doing some shopping
Of course on my to do list for our visit to Galway – shopping!! As I mentioned, I picked up some great pieces when I was here in 2011. Several of them still get worn today. The funny thing about time. I was looking forward to going back to the stores where I found so many great things, only this time? Not so much. I still love the pieces I got before but I wasn’t impressed with their selection this time. It felt very much like a store for a younger crowd as opposed to stuff that was suitable to a dinner out or for work like before.
Though I of course managed to find something during my trip š I picked up a really pretty dress on the clearance rack and I can’t wait for spring/summer to wear it!!
We spent some time wandering around Galway city visiting all the little shops there. It was raining a bit, which isn’t surprising considering its Ireland, but they were only short showers. The menfolk split off from us ladies and of course got up to some shenanigans in a pub!! At least they had fun!
Salthill
The next morning we headed up to Salthill for breakfast.
It was nice getting to spend some time by the water. We had a pretty great view even with the rain and wind.
Sometimes, my parents can be so cute. At the Fisherman over breakfast my dad gave mom his black pudding and she gave him her sausage #relationshipgoals. I think my meal was of course the winner: Gluten Free Toast and 2 lattes. š I have to say their foam art was pretty impressive – I’ve never seen writing in it before!Ā
What I love about Ireland is seeing all of the old buildings. Especially the thatched roof cottages!! They look so cute. Really, when I think of Ireland I think of fields and thatched cottages.
that’s so cute, I want to cry!! such an adorable town.

Great pics Charlene. Looks like you had a nice time. š
Galway was probably my favorite city in Ireland. It’s where I got my Celtic knot ring and Claddaugh ring. I miss Ireland.
