Old items in your closet can be a source of surprise and pleasure when you find them again. Like a lot of things in my life, my wardrobe can be divided into before the accident and after the accident. This duster cardigan and shirt-dress are two pieces from my closet before the accident.
Dress: Vero Moda (old, similar), Duster Cardigan: Winners (old, similar here, and here)
In With the Old
These are two pieces that previously I would never have thought to put together. I typically wore this dress with a black blazer or cardigan over it but this time I decided to mix things up a little and go with this striped duster cardigan. This duster is so long and cozy that I usually wore it over a tee and leggings. By mixing them together I was able to create a new look and breathe new life into some of my old pieces.
Whenever I buy something new, I can’t wait to wear it! I will probably have it on by the next day. Older pieces tend to get pushed to the back of the closet where they end up being forgotten. This year I am really making an effort to dig into the back of my closet and to pull out these pieces and to see which items I still love and want to wear.
I really struggle with parting with certain pieces. Even if I haven’t worn them in years! If an item is still in really good condition, or it still looks nice I will want to hang on to it. So I stick it back in my closet where it sits day after day. I am trying to be really cutthroat this year. If I don’t wear it – out it goes! Trying them out in new ways can help you to decide if a piece is really worth the closet space. Some items won’t be making the cut and they will get donated. Others might become some of my new favourites and be seen on repeat.
