Shades of Red

Red is always the first colour that people think of when they think Valentine’s Day but I wanted to go away from the norm by picking other shades of red. While marsala is no longer the Pantone colour of the year, burgundy is still one of my favourite shades to wear. This faux leather blazer I picked up from Dynamite a few years ago, and I love the shade, feel and fit of it. I wear A LOT of blazers and Dynamite is one of my go-to places to pick them up. They have so many colours and styles to choose from and their prices cannot be beat!

This pink bow dress is also from Dynamite from about 2 years ago. I had seen it online and thought it was so pretty but I had no occasion to wear it for so I passed it up. Then a few months later they were having a sale and the dress was still in stock so I knew it was a sign and I snatched it up! I managed to score it for $15!! How could I possibly resist!!

With Valentine’s Day this weekend, I knew that I wanted to style this dress and blazer together. It’s a great alternative to the typical red choice. These two shades go so well together and the burgundy really makes the pink colour pop!

It was freezing when I was taking these photos, and SO windy that it was hard to get some good shots. I’m still learning how to use this camera and how to take pictures in manual mode to adjust for the light. As I continue practicing and taking classes my photography game will really start to improve – I can’t wait!

Charlene xoxo
