Stripes and Florals

This outfit was one of those looks that came together spontaneously as I was getting dressed. I wanted to re-wear this floral halter neck tunic (seen before here) but I wasn’t sure what items I wanted to pair it with. As I was browsing through my closet I came across this skirt and I immediately saw how great the two pieces could look together. It’s fun and exciting when outfits come together like this!

Halter: Winners, Blazer: Winners, Skirt: Dynamite, Booties: Nine West

The last time I wore this skirt, I paired it with a blue sweater and black turtleneck. Wearing this skirt in this outfit shows how versatile the items in your closet can be. One of my resolutions/goals for 2016 is to spend less on clothes. I bought a lot of new clothes in 2015 and now that my closet is overflowing I need to curb the spending. I am planning on working through the different items in my closet and giving some new life to pieces that I have had for years! Whatever doesn’t get worn this year will be donated.

Mixing Prints

The green of the leaves on the flowers matched up well with the green in the skirt. It’s funny, not that long ago I was hesitant to dip my toe into the mixing prints water and now I dive in head first! I really love it and I’m noticing that I am mixing prints all the time!! When I first started mixing prints (see here) I stuck to black and white because it was an easy way to ease into the trend. As I became more comfortable (see here and here) I started adding in more colours. Now, when I mix prints I usually base it off of one colour and go from there. I’m also at a place where I mix prints without even thinking of it. Sometimes the prints I am mixing don’t have the same colours but the colours are complimentary to each other. Who knew I would love mixing prints so much!
