I’ve been on a lot of trips this year. Like a LOT. So when I was putting together this final post from my weekend in Chicago I thought I would share my tips on the best ways to sightsee; Chicago style.
The Chicago edition of the Ultimate guide to sightseeing
My first night I visited 360 Chicago. The next day I attended the Simply Stylist conference and then hit up Nordstrom. My last day before my flight home, I decided to do some more sightseeing. Here are two tips for the best way to see a city in a short period of time.
Top 2 tips for sightseers
- Take a hop on/hop off bus tour
- Walk
I know that I have mentioned this before but taking a hop on/hop off tour is seriously one of the best ways to see a city!! When I was visiting Chicago, the marathon was on so several streets were closed. By taking the bus tour I still got to see so much in only a few hours! These bus tours rule!!
I got to see so many attractions and sculptures on this tour!
Getting off the bus and walking around the city is a great way to get up close and to really see it.
When I travel, I like to pick out a few places that I really want to see. In Chicago it was the Bean and the Buckingham fountain. This fountain, was a little tricky to get to because of the race but it was totally worth it!!
I love a good fountain!! Fountains and waterfalls are two of my favourite things to see. With the race on I had to navigate through the city from an earlier stop on the bus. It worked out for the best as I was able to see some other pretty cool sights.
Getting to watch the sun set over the river 🙂
As the sun sets, and it turns to night, the lights of Chicago come on creating a beautiful atmosphere over the city.
Chicago is one of my favourite places that I have travelled to this year. I’m already thinking about going back.
Where is one place you are interested in visiting in 2017? Let me know in the comments
i still have only been to the chicago airport, haha. when i go, i’ll be sure to use these tips!

Agreed with the hop on and off! nothing worse than feeling trapped when you want to hop off and explore!

I haven’t been there but this is one o my bucket list, Thanks for the guide and I will keep this in my mind
I’ve never been to Chicago but it’s definitely on my travel bucket list! It looks so beautiful. I can’t wait to go explore it once the weather gets warm again!
I think walking would be the best way to take in all the view and buildings. Unfortunately I’d probably get lost. LOL
I haven’t spent a lot of time in Chicago, but I will have to bookmark this for when I do go. Thank you!
