What to do in Fort Lauderdale Part 4: Dinner and a Show on Board The Jungle Queen River Cruise

For our last night in Fort Lauderdale, mom and I wanted to do something special. We had been chatting to a couple that was also staying in the same hotel as us and they had mentioned that they were going to take a dinner cruise. This sounded like the perfect thing for us to do!! We called to get tickets and the only day they had left just so happened to be our last night in town. It was perfect!!

The Jungle Queen

The Jungle Queen is one of those old fashioned riverboats that holds a ton of people! Which is good since it sells out so quickly!! The riverboat sails down Fort Lauderdale’s New River, down along past millionaires row where you can see all the huge mansions and yachts.

The cruise docks at their own island where you are treated to all-you-can-eat dinner of baby back ribs, bbq chicken, peel and eat shrimp, potato wedges and all the fixings! The food was SO good!! Yum yum yum!!

After you eat you definitely have to explore the island before the after dinner show starts. There were so many cute little animals and birds. The squirrel monkey and the lemur were definitely my favourites but I also loved the bright colours of the different birds.

Then the show started and it was definitely worth the price of admission!! We laughed, we danced, we had an amazing time!! The show starts off with “The Blues Brothers” singing and dancing before moving to the juggler. This guy could juggle balls, bowling pins and swords – even while riding a unicycle! As if that wasn’t impressive enough he was cracking us up the whole time that he did it! When he lit his pins on fire I couldn’t believe it! Next was the comedian and if I thought the juggler was funny this guy was a riot!! My mom laughed so hard at all of his jokes – she really had a great time!! The last act started with two young ladies dancing and then all of a sudden a young boy joins them and starts swinging around a baton that had both ends aflame. It was incredible!! So much talent on display! I don’t think I could pick one act as my favourite, they were all just too good!!

The entire tour was about 4 hours long and it was definitely money well spent!! Mom and I had so much fun – I haven’t seen her laugh that hard for that long in a really long time!! It was the perfect way to end our trip.

Of course we had to buy the commemorative photo!!

If you are visiting the Fort Lauderdale area, I definitely recommend taking a trip on the Jungle Queen. They have many different tours available and it is a great way to see the city. Plus you get dinner and a show all for the reasonable price of under $53USD!! Where can you get a better deal than that??
