What to do in Chicago: Visit 360 Chicago

When I went to Chicago for the Simply Stylist blog conference this summer, I made sure to make space on my trip to see some of the city. One of my best friends and I have talked about visiting Chicago for years!! She couldn’t make it out with me but I decided to still make it a mini vacation.

Since I was only there for the weekend I knew that I needed to get the most out of my time. I was only there Friday afternoon to Sunday evening so I needed to plan accordingly. After checking in to the Dana hotel, I went sightseeing.

On my first night I wanted to visit a place that was close to my hotel, I knew I would need to rest up for the conference!! I chose to visit the 360 Chicago because it was a city landmark, close by, and what better way to see the city then from the top of a tower?!?

How great is this view!!! Chicago, you are one beautiful city!!

At 360 Chicago not only do you get a 360 degree view of the city but you can also do the tilt.

Doing the tilt

What’s the tilt you ask? One of the features of the 360 Chicago is the ability to lean out on a reinforced glass panel that tilts so you are looking out over the city on a 30 degree angle!! Sounds terrifying? I sure thought so!!

I am NOT afraid of heights, but I do have a fear of falling over edges. Similar fears but different. My initial reaction to the tilt was for sure nervousness. Hearing the reactions of the people who had gone on before me did not help!!

I’m really trying to push myself out of my comfort zone these days so I knew that I had to give it a shot no matter how nervous I might be. So I bought my ticket and headed to the line.

For whatever reason by the time I got over there it was empty. Not a single person. So I ended up doing the tilt with one of the staff! Which actually helped I think. I was nervous and hearing the person beside me scream would not have helped!!

So my verdict? It really is not at all scary!! They tilt you 10 degrees at a time so you get used to it. Plus 30 degrees is really a very slight angle. The view though! It was amazing!!

On your next visit to Chicago, you should definitely consider going to 360 Chicago and doing the tilt! It’s a really fun and cool way to see the Chicago city skyline.
