Today, I wanted to share with you another suggestion of what to do in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to taking a water taxi, you definitely need to hit up the beach and today I am sharing all about Lauderdale by the Sea.
During my 9 day practicum, we finished early one of the days so the group of us had a bit of free time. As soon as I heard that we had some time off, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Mom and I had talked about planning another trip to the beach and we thought it would be nice to get a group of us together. I asked around to some of the other people in the program and of course they were interested!! Let’s hit the beach!!
Lauderdale By The Sea
One of the woman in our practicum had lived in the Fort Lauderdale area so she had recommended Lauderdale by the Sea as a quiet little beach that would be easy for us to get to. As she put it “It’s not South Beach, it’s a little more family friendly”. Since we just wanted a break from the mindfulness program to walk along the sand or go for a swim it sounded perfect!! Though, there was a small group of guys who chose to rent a convertible and hit up Miami for the evening instead! š
If you are heading to Fort Lauderdale and you are looking for a quiet little beachy area that would be great to take your kids to, then Lauderdale by the sea is where you want to go.
There are so many cute little shops nearby, so of course we all grabbed some ice cream! Who doesn’t like ice cream? Yum!! The sand on the beach was clean and soft and the temperature of the water was just right! While I didn’t go swimming, my friends sure did. I don’t think I have ever seen people run into the water that fast before!! I guess I wasn’t the only one who wanted to go to the beach!!
Lauderdale by the Sea has a little pier where for a couple of bucks you can do some fishing or just go for a stroll like we did. It’s a great way to see the beach and you never know what kinds of birds you might run into.
Hanging out at the beach, chatting with my new friends, was a great way to spend our afternoon off. We really created a little community during this practicum and we still keep in touch to motivate and inspire each other to continue along our mindfulness journey.
