What to Wear to a Winery for Maxi (mum) Impact

Happy Tuesday!! Yesterday was a holiday in Canada, so I took advantage of the long weekend and took a much needed break from the blog. I spent the day chilling in the apartment and grabbed my camera and went out for a few hours. A nice walk along the water was just what I needed!! šŸ™‚

A couple of weeks ago, I headed out to the Niagara Wine Region to visit a couple of wineries with my cousins. Today, I want to talk about what you should wear when you visit a winery plus show you what I wore.

What to Wear To A Winery

When going to a winery, there are a couple of things that you want to keep in mind when it comes to your outfit.

  1. You need to do a bit of research about the area that you are going to. Some wineries expect you to look a little more formal and put together while others have a more relaxed vibe. Knowing what kind of attire the winery will expect will help you to decide your look. That said:
  2. Dress your best. Going to a winery is all about having a good time and sampling the best wines that they have to offer. You want to dress the part by wearing something cute and comfy but that isn’t super casual either. As long as you look put together and polished anything can go.
  3. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking around a fair bit. The wineries I visited in Niagara were inside but I’ve visited others that included a tour of the grounds and the vineyard. It all depends on the location and the weather (it was wet and overcast in Niagara) so wear shoes that you can walk on the grass in. Wedges and flats? Stilettos? x Getting your heel stuck in the grass? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
  4. Accessories: Crossbody bags or backpacks are a must. You want to have your hands free to hold your wine glasses. šŸ˜‰
  5. Layers: Bringing a light cardigan or shawl with you will be perfect to throw on or off as the weather permits. As the day goes on and the sun starts to set, you will be glad that you brought a little something to throw over your shoulders.

I love this dress!! It is the perfect maxi dress for two reasons: the tiered ruffle and the length. Most maxi dresses are so long that you need to wear heels with them or risk tripping over the hem. This one hits at the perfect length so that you can wear a cute pair of lace up flats without worrying about stepping all over the bottom of your skirt. The tiered ruffle and the geometric pattern definitely take this dress up a notch from your run of the mill maxi dresses.

A pair of lace-up flats work well with this dress. The slit up the sides allows for a peek at how cute they are. I’m so glad that the lace up trend is sticking around!! These cuties are from Zara and they were the perfect find! Of course, I went with my backpack purse for the day. It holds all of my essentials, like my camera šŸ˜‰ and it keeps my hands free. This way they can be filled with glasses of delicious wine! šŸ™‚

To beat the chill but to keep the look a little more relaxed and chill, I went with a denim jacket. The maxi dress that I am wearing is currently sold out online (similar). It’s on sale now in stores so run, don’t walk, to your nearest Dynamite location and snap it up before they are all sold out. You won’t be sorry!! šŸ™‚
