Friday’s Fab Finds – When to Splurge

Happy Friday!! As the Frugal Fashionista, I tend to be pretty frugal šŸ˜‰ when it comes to buying something new. I like good quality at a reasonable price. If an item is more than $50, unless it is something really special that I know I will get a lot of wear out of it, I’ll probably pass it by. I operate on a cost/wear analysis and I can’t justify spending a lot of money on a top that will only get worn once, when I can find a similar style top somewhere else for less. But sometimes, we need to splurge and treat ourselves to something pretty! šŸ™‚

My accident recovery has had a lot of downs, and very few ups, and as I was gearing up to finishing with one of my biggest challenges, I decided to celebrate by buying myself something that I have had my eye on for awhile. Like every other fashion girl, I have had my eye on a pair of Stuart Weitzman Over-the-Knee boots. So I decided, once I was finished with it, I was going to buy a pair. It had been hanging over my head impeding my recovery so I knew that it was the perfect occasion to splurge on myself.

I tend to overthink everything, so of course I had to do my research first! I visited the Stuart Weitzman store at the Eaton Centre and tried on several pairs of their boots. Poor salespeople. I had gone in thinking about getting the 5050 boots in a grey/beige colour but in order to make an informed decision, I tried on all of the different styles of over-the-knee boots that they had. I noticed that they came in different colours, and a cranberry/burgundy shade caught my eye. Most of my shoes tend to be neutrals, and I have a lot of black shoes, so I thought, maybe I should expand my colour palette and go with something a lot different. Once I tried on the lowland in the cranberry shade, I knew that they were the ones for me. I didn’t end up buying them that first day. I came home and priced them out to see if it would be a better deal if I drove across the border to get them. It turns out it wouldn’t be. With the exchange, once it was converted into Canadian, it would be more expensive than if I just bought them here. It also wasn’t time yet. I had set a date for buying the boots and I was not going to cave in and buy them sooner.

The day finally came, I was able to cross my hurdle off of my list and a few days later I returned and bought my boots. And I love them!! I’ve worn them several times already and they are so comfy and they really make every outfit look so much better! What I love about these boots is that the colour really adds impact to your outfit. You can wear them over jeans or under a dress or skirt. They really can be worn with anything!!
