Holiday Essential – The Little Red Dress

This holiday season you can’t go wrong with a little red dress (LRD) for all your party going needs! I recently wore this outfit to a family friends daughter’s wedding. Let me tell you – it was a hit!! I received several compliments including one woman who I didn’t know who told me I was “slaying it” in this look and was the best dressed there! I’m going to assume she meant after the bride 😉

Me and the cake, unfortunately I left before it was cut, I’m still not up for late nights. It looked good though!!image  image image  image image

A red dress always suggest the Christmas season to me. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, a red dress is perfect for any holiday party that you might be heading to. It’s also something that you can wear year-round. Red doesn’t always have to mean Christmas!

I kept it fairly simple for this wedding. It was an intimate evening affair on a Friday night so I didn’t want something formal. This dress is made out of a brocade material and it actually looks like it’s two-pieces. It has what looks like a top over a skirt with a split-panel front but really it’s all one piece. This red dress is old from Zara so I have linked to some other styles here, here and here (and all are under $100!)

I added this cape/blazer from SheIn (similar) and my new booties. I went with the leopard print fold-over clutch and a statement necklace to add some oomph to this look.

This look can be changed up for a more casual occasion by swapping out the cape/blazer for a cardigan or if you want to go for an edgier look you could add a leather moto jacket. I went with booties but heels would also work. When the weather warms up you could skip the tights and go with a great pair of lace-up flats.

It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us already!! I’ve finished all my shopping and decorating but I still have my cards to write, presents to wrap and cookies to bake!!

Charlene xoxo
