Monday Mantra – Striving to be Me

8d979a2dbf65c7c9ffacbd18b68832d5

This is my mantra for the week as I try to focus on being myself and being open and comfortable with who that is. I’m not the person that I was before the accident and I can never really be her again. My accident has been a big change and it has forever altered my life in so many ways. It’s what motivated me to start this blog among other things. I’ve decided to be more open in this blog, which is something that I am nervous about. A lot has happened to me over the years and I think that it is important to talk about and share. I hope that learning a bit more about me will help you to connect with me. My story isn’t always pretty but things are starting to look up for me. My recovery has been really long and it is nowhere near finished. I’m figuring out how much to share and how best to share it so that is something that you can expect over the next little while. It’s a long story so figuring out what works for the blog format and what doesn’t is where I am at. I’m also in the final week of my term for my Masters program (Hooray!!) and I have a lot of coursework to do. The blog might be a little lighter over the next few weeks as I finish up assignments and get ready for Christmas. I have a few blog posts in the mix that will get posted between now and the new year. I hope that you stick around and follow along on my journey!!

This is a look I posted recently on Instagram (click the icon on the right panel to follow me). This was a simple look made up of some fun pieces that I had in my closet. The long sleeve floral tunic I picked up on Black Friday and I paired it with this light purple skirt that I got in the summer. Usually I would have added a black cardigan to this look, but I thought that the darker purple cardigan would be fun. I really liked how this look came together because I put it together as I was staring into my closet trying to decide what to wear. Sometimes that is how the best looks come together! The cardigan I got from RW & Co and I have had it forever!! It’s cashmere that I found on sale and of course it’s a piece that I will hang on to for years and years.
