Statement Collar

I love a good black on black outfit as much as the next girl, but I also like to add a little pop to my looks. Today I’m going to show you how to brighten up your look by adding a statement collar.

I picked up this sweater from Oasis when I was in Ireland in September. What I liked about it was that it was a nice light weight knit sweater. The beaded collar really gives it some impact. It may look like I am wearing a dress shirt underneath but it’s really just the collar. The best part? It’s detachable!! It’s like two looks in one!!

To play up the beading in the collar, I added an ear jacket (similar). Since I love colour I went with these gorgeous suede booties from Nine West. Love them!!

A bold red lip and you are good to go!!

I’m making a real effort to be more mindful with what I buy and wear. These sweater is the kind of item that I can get a lot of wear out of. The cost per wear on it is pretty low. And the pants I’m wearing? I’ve had since university so they have more than paid for themselves!!

I believe that when you find a great pair of pants, you hang onto them!!

Trends come and go but certain items are more timeless. A simple sweater with a beaded collar is the kind of item that you can wear with anything. Here I was going for a more office style look but it would also look cute with a pair of distressed denim or with a cute skirt!

Remixing newer pieces with old standby pieces is a great way to maximize your wardrobe possibilities. Being more of a conscious consumer means that I really think before I purchase something. I’m also not opposed to returning something after I get home if I discover that it really won’t work with what I’ve already got.
