Now that the weather is changing it’s time to show you the perfect rain coat. This coat can be worn now on the wet and sleety days. When spring rolls around you can definitely pull this bad boy out to help brighten your day!!
The perfect rain coat
Here in Toronto, we get a LOT of rain throughout the year. There is nothing that I hate more than being wet. That’s not true, I hate my hands being dirty more. What can I say? I’m a bit of a germ-a-phobe.
Being wet and cold is definitely up there on the list though. That’s why I needed to find a rain coat and let me tell you in my search I managed to find the perfect rain coat!!
What makes the perfect Rain Coat?
Technically, this coat isn’t a rain coat. It’s actually an “apres yoga” jacket from Lulu Lemon!! I found it there a few years ago (on the sale rack!!) and I knew it had to be mine.
For me, it’s all about the colour. I love bright colours and this shade of blue is my absolute favourite. Since a rain coat is probably one of the coats that gets worn the most in a year you need to find one that fits your style. Colour is the first thing you should think about.
Material is next. Nobody wants a rain coat that is too thin and one keep you warm. Or dry for that matter. Mine is made of polyester and spandex and the water just runs right off of it. It also keeps you really warm. Like so much warmer than you would think for a jacket this light-weight. Love it!!
A hood is the next must have item for the perfect coat. It’s all well and good for your body to be dry but nobody wants to end up looking like a drowned rat! Not cute.
The length is another consideration. This one is long enough that it covers most of me. Throw on a great pair of Hunters and you are completely covered!
This coat has a cinchable hood and waistline. Zippered pockets and a cord exit for tangle-free headphone. Excellent bonus points!
Since my jacket is a few years old, this colour is no longer available. It comes in other colours but right now only the black is available online. You should definitely check out your local lulu (and their sale rack!) to see what other colours are available.
Is it worth it?
It might seem like a lot of money to spend on a rain coat so you need to think about how often it rains in your neck of the woods. I bought mine more than 5 years ago and it still looks brand new. With how often I’ve worn it the cost-per-wear was definitely pretty low. In my opinion it was worth the splurge. However you need to do what’s right for you and your pocketbook.

I’ve always struggled with rain coats keeping me too warm. Any suggestions?
I ADORE a good raincoat – especially ones that have removeable liners 🙂

Your rain coat looks like new so I’d say it was well worth the money spent on it. I am looking for a new one myself.
I love the color of this rain coat! This is something I need to invest in.
