Thinking outside the (colouring) box

Happy Tuesday!! Yesterday was a civic holiday here in Canada so I took it easy and relaxed at home with my family.

I mentioned before how I have been in a fashion rut, but this year I am really trying to change things up.

When I was putting together today’s outfit, I paired my Zara  pants with a sheer tank that I have had for a few years. The blue in the tank matches perfectly with the blue flowers on the pants.

Typically, I would have added a black blazer or cardigan over this top but today I decided to think outside the box. Instead of reaching for the tried and true, I decided to mix things up and to play with a bit more colour. So, I grabbed this bold green boyfriend blazer that I have had for a few years now.

Blazer: Dynamite, Tank: M for Mendocino, Pants: Zara, Shoes: Sears

I really love the colour on this blazer, but I would typically pair it with black and white neutrals. By challenging myself with what colours I wear together and how I match up different items, I am really expanding my wardrobe. A few months ago, I would never have thought of putting these pieces together, but I think that together they create a really fun look. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Frugal Find: I picked up these Zara pants from my local Salvation Army. They were new with the tags still on them but because they had a rip on the seam, they were donated. My mom and I are both handy with a needle and thread, and when there is a rip on the seam, it is really easy to fix it yourself. I was able to pick up a great new pair of pants, at a fraction of what I would have paid in the store, all because of a little rip. It pays to check out your local thrift store, you never know what sweet score you may find!
